Gnosis - The Truth Will Reveal the Illusion

Gnosis means knowledge or awareness. Gnosticism is a early branch of Christianity that was practiced in the Mediterranean area around 100 - 400 AD. Gnosticism was banned by the church when the Bible was canonized. The Gnostic texts and beliefs were banned and burned when they opposed the church.

The Gnostics believe that this world was created by a false and envious god, a demiurge (builder) named Yahweh or Jaldebouth. And this world is controlled by the demiurge's 7 henchmen called archons. These archons control people via fear, hatred and desire, etc.

The Gnostics believe that the soul of all people has a divine spark and is trapped on earth in a human body. By achieving gnosis or consciousness, one can escape the captivity of the demurge.

In the story of Adam and Eve, they are lured by the serpent to eat from the tree of knowledge and become aware that they were naked and ignorant before. Then they are expelled from the garden of Eden. The Gnostics believe that Jesus came to warn about the false god and that paradise should be found within oneself.

In 1945, some Gnostic texts and gospels were found in Egypt near Nag Hammadi that are not found in the Bible.
